A Look Back at 2021!

2021 was a crazy year for so many, and it was a busy year here at My Canine Companion! Lets look back at some of our highlights of the year!

Remote learning with your best friend is so much better!

January 2021 kicked off with remote learning for the kids, and our dogs were a huge support to their best friends at home! We got to see some amazing moments unfold, and bonds get even stronger through tough times! Our dogs are now experts at zoom calls!

Welcome to our V litter 

Momma Orla welcomed our V litter at the beginning of February - 9 new superheroes.

These guys are are all now coming up through our puppy programme and school therapy programme and they are doing an amazing job.

Jerusalema x MCC

If you haven’t seen our Jerusalema x MCC video you are missing out.

An Garda Siochana from Mallow, in Cork, joined the MCC staff along with our dancing dogs to take on the biggest challenge of lockdown 2021, and we made quite a stir online!

This is definitely one for the books!

Congratulations to Autism Service dog, Heather

Our first graduate of the year!

Heather graduated as a qualified autism service dog, and was soon after attached to her best friend Callum! These two have an amazing bond! 

Welcome to our W litter 

Momma Jules welcomed our W litter - 7 new superheroes!!

These guys are now all coming up through out puppy programme, and are doing an amazing job with their families! 

We opened our waiting list!

In April 2021 we opened our waiting list, and accepted 60 families.

The demand this year was so high, with over 2000 applicants.

We have committed to opening our list every April going forward.

60 Miles for MCC

In May, we launched our 60 miles for MCC event, which saw 100s of people walking 60 miles in aid of MCC in June. What an amazing event, spreading awareness about the charity but also raising much needed funds!  Thank you to everyone who took part!

Who Doesn’t love puppies!!

We were so excited to welcome 5 more litters of puppies, who will all go on to change lives!

We welcomed our Z, A, B, C and D litters!!

It was a busy few weeks, with MCC mommas Fifi, Jackie, Jess, Jeannie, Vienna welcoming their puppies all within a few weeks of each other. All of these future superheroes are now coming up through our puppy programme, and school therapy programme! They are making such a difference!

We celebrated our 10th anniversary!

In June we celebrated our 10th anniversary.

Something we are very proud of here at MCC headquarters.

We look forward to 10 more, helping families around Ireland.

Did you see Breff, Bree and Blossom on Ireland am, with mom Caroline, spreading awareness about the charity? These three are definitely made for stardom and stole the hearts of Ireland! 

Congratulations to our June graduates!

Congratulations to Harlee, Luca, Jingle, Kane, Kim, Koby, Nancy, Nora, Lennon, Leroy, Nally, Kendall, Khloe, and Keeva who all graduated as qualified Autism Service Dogs!

These guys all returned home to their families where they completed their first attachments, and are now working hard to make every day life easier for their best friends.

Puppy classes around the country 

Our puppy classes around the country were busy this year, with lots of new puppies coming up through our puppy programme. We enjoy seeing their progress each month, and it is amazing to see the hard work and dedication from families.

Congratulations to Herbie and Olaf, who both graduated as qualified Autism Service dogs, and have now both been matched with their families!

MCC School therapy dog programme 

Our school therapy programme has grown hugely this year, with dogs placed in schools around the country.

Our school therapy dogs are doing an amazing job, supporting children during their school day!

You may have seen MCC school therapy dog Alfie on the news once or twice. 

100km in 30 days

Our 100km in 30 days event again saw 100s of people around Ireland, walking 100km in aid of My Canine Companion.

The support has been amazing with our events this year, and we love seeing everyone reach their goal!

Currys announce our charity partnership

We launched our charity partnership with Currys Ireland, who have pledged to sponsor 17 service dogs! We are so excited to work with Currys, and help to spread amazing awareness about MCC and the work that we do.

Congratulations to our December graduates

Congratulations to Ollie, Rona, Peggy, Pj, Pongo, Oti, Riley, Roz, Rourke, Ruddy, Paulie, Pablo, and Joe who all graduated as fully qualified Autism Service Dogs, and have now returned to their families to being the next chapter! We cannot wait to see what is to come for these guys!

Christmas Wishes

MCC dogs odette and Jack made sure to have a word with Santa this year about how good all of our dogs are! We are sure they were all on the nice list this year! 

50 Miles for MCC launch

We have just launched out 50miles for mcc event, which will take place in February. Funds raised from this event will help us to open our list in April.
