Harry ditched his buggy, to walk with his best friend, Service Dog Kirby!
MyCC Service Dog, Kirby, has made a lifechanging difference to his pal Harry! Before Kirby qualified, just before Christmas, Harry would always be in a buggy on outings, for his safety!
But now this has changed!
Harry’s mom, Margaret, tells us about their first trainspotting outing together, where Harry ditched the buggy and walked independently with his best pall, Service dog Kirby!
“So we planned this since last night, a trip to the train station (Harry’s favourite place).
Harry is a trainspotter, and the only time he will normally get to see them is if he is in his buggy or the car.
We decided to let Harry walk about 2 mins to the train station, so the transition wasn’t too short. He got very anxious as we got there, and didn’t want to go in, so we decided to watch from across the road.
This is the first time Harry has ever independently watched a train, without being in his buggy ,or the car.
He has never stood at the side of the road, for a length of time without dropping to the ground, or trying to bolt.
Until he was attached to Kirby!!
Kirby was absolutely amazing!!
It’s so overwhelming to see them both working so well together, and to see your son independently walking down the street and doing what he loves most.
There really is no better feeling 😁.”
