The puppy lives with a designated staff member, who is approved by the charity after the application process.

Training

Training The school therapy dog programme is a 2 year programme, which requires a big commitment from the school as a whole.

Training is front loaded to ensure the success of the school and their dog.

The handler must attend compulsory training sessions, with their school therapy dog instructor. These will be during school time, so the school must note this to organise cover for the handler.

The training sessions will take place both on site and off site, as organised by the school therapy dog instructor.

Each school receives full individualised support from the MCC school therapy dog instructor.
