Service Dog Farrah is Lola's best friend!!
Farrah was a 12 week old puppy when she was matched to our daughter Lola.
It wasnt love at first sight here, Farrah was a playful energetic pup, and Lola hated the unpredictably of her. She often didnt like being in the same room as her.
We continued on with training and socialising, and when Farrah was a few months older Lola began to want to be around her more. She would rub her feet on Farrah’s fur, or give her cuddles when out.
From this their bond grew stronger by the day.
Farrah qualified as a Service Dog around Christmas 2019, and Lola was attached soon after.
Lola’s social anxiety can cause her to meltdown or run away when out. Attached to Farrah she is safe, she can no longer run away, she will now lie or sit on the ground crying or shouting, and Farrah lies along side her until she is ready to get going again.
Having Farrah with us not only keeps Lola safe, but we notice the difference in how people react to meltdowns. Farrah is a visual that this is more than a temper tantrum, or bold child.
Farrah is Lola’s best friend, she gives Lola confidence, encourages conversations, and is always by her side for a cuddle when it all gets to much.
We are forever grateful to My Canine Companion for all their amazing work and dedication, they have changed our lives for the better.
